On October 16, 2013, the Pudong Office of Shanghai Municipal Office of Port Service held a symposium on on-site regulation of customs inspection after the “free trade zone” was established. At the symposium, Lu Xiangqing, Deputy Director of the Customs of Waigaoqiao Bonded Area, and Huang Qijun, Deputy Director of the Bonded Area Office of Inspection and Quarantine, exchanged views on the operation situation of the regulation mode, namely “letting go of the frontline, taking hold of the second-line and setting free of the inside zone”, of the customs and inspection and quarantine after the FTZ was established, and on the possible problems during on-site practical operation within the zone at present. At last, Ye Chao, Director of the Pudong Office, summarized the symposium and expressed his appreciation for the important contributions that Waigaoqiao Bonded Area has made during the preparation phase of the FTZ. He also hoped to keep close communication with customs inspection and reinforce information exchange of the successful operation of each pilot task, so as to make earlier preparation for the forming of “replicable and propagable” FTZ regulation experience.
