Nowadays more and more people prefer riding passenger liners for outbound visits. Policemen of the Pujiang Border Inspection Station find many of them unfamiliar with handling related procedures when they begin their first ride. In consideration of this, the station gives the following suggestions:
1. Location and time for receiving inspection: prospect liner or international cruise ship riders should go to the Wusongkou International Cruise Ship Port or the International Passenger Transportation Center of Shanghai Port to wait for their vessels. They should follow the arrangement of the travel agency to get to the port early so as not to disrupt their itinerary. When waiting for border inspection, passengers should get in line and stay in order.
2. Process of customs clearance for exit: passengers shall receive security check on their luggage and personal belongings at the entry of the inspection hall. Then they shall have their cabin seat and the group name list confirmed at the Ticketing Counter. Afterwards, they need to have articles checked and claimed at the customs inspection passage and finish consignment of their luggage. The final step is receiving border inspection.
Passengers from China’s mainland should have valid visa; those from Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan should have exit-entry permits; foreign passengers should hold their passports and fill in exit registration card; when they complete these border inspection procedures they could walk to the boarding platform and get on the ship via the lounge.
3. Process of customs clearance for entry: After the arrival of a passenger liner, a ladder would adjoin the boarding lounge so the passengers could enter the inspection hall.
Quarantine check is the first part, after which the passengers enter the Awaiting Check Area. Passengers from China’s mainland use their visa to pass; those from Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan produce their exit-entry permit to pass; foreign passengers should show their visa and the entry registration card to pass. The card is available from the ship and the form-filling counter at the inspection hall.
Passengers need to pick up their luggage after finishing border inspection procedures. Then they need to enter the customs check area to make claims and accept check on their luggage and belongings. After the check passengers could take leave at the exit of the inspection hall via vehicles.
