Shanghai Minhang Export Processing Zone

Shanghai Minhang Export Processing Zone was founded in Shanghai Comprehensive Industrial Development Zone under the approval of the State Council on March 10, 2003. The total planning area of the Phase One project is 3 square kilometers. The first phase covers an area of 2 square kilometers. The export processing zone started its official operation since November 2003.

Shanghai Comprehensive Industrial Development Zone is divided into two sections: Zone A and Zone B. The planning area of Zone A is 33.38 square kilometers. In addition to an industrial zone, a 3-square-kilometer export processing zone is also located here. It is the only large industrial park in Shanghai that has both an industrial zone and an export processing zone.

Shanghai Comprehensive Industrial Development Zone has experienced a rapid development in the past 10 years. It has become a center for several pillar industries, including the electronic information industry, modern biology and medicine, advanced materials, and power transmission and distribution equipment. By the end of 2003, 77 foreign-funded enterprises have founded offices in the development zone, with a total investment of 1.54 billion USD. Several Fortune Global 500 enterprises at home and abroad have set up plants in the development zone, such as GE, SGL Carbon SE, Pioneer, Panasonic, Hino Engine, EXEDY Friction Materials, Mahle Filter Cleaner, Autotiv, SRS System, Lemforder, Plastika Kritis Plastics Company, Potevio, Shanghai Leiyunshang Pharmaceutical Co, Ltd, Shuangling TCL Air Conditioners, Zhezhong Appliances and CW Bearing.

History:

In 1995, Shanghai Fengpu Industrial Zone, the predecessor of Shanghai Comprehensive Industrial Development Zone, was founded under the approval of Shanghai Municipal Government. It was listed as a municipal-level industrial zone in the same year.

In 2000, Shanghai Industrial Investment (Group) Co, Ltd became the shareholder of Shanghai Comprehensive Industrial Development Zone, making it one of the three most important key industrial zones in Shanghai.

In 2003, Shanghai Minhang Export Processing Zone was founded in Shanghai Comprehensive Industrial Development Zone under the approval of the State Council. The total area of the export processing zone is 3 square kilometers.

In 2004, Shanghai Minhang Export Processing Zone passed the ISO9001&14001 Certification.
